FALCON will cover disaster risk reduction and disaster management with a focus on preparedness, response, and recovery. The project’s components will include a critical systems review, a regional stakeholder analysis, an SDI gap analysis, and the publication of a road map. FALCON will be focused on the MENA (Middle East-North Africa) region and will involve a range of international partners and stakeholders. MORE » [/ezcol_1third][ezcol_1third] GeoSUMR Project GeoInformation for Sustainable Urban Management and Resilience (GeoSUMR) promotes the use of geospatial tools and information by decision-makers in second tier cities to improve the efficiency and sustainability of urban infrastructure and service delivery. GeoSUMR includes: (1) workshops for urban professionals and civil society to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences using geospatial tools and information; (2) hands-on training of these groups in the use of geospatial tools and information to improve urban management; and (3) pilot projects linked to increasing urban sustainability and resilience. A workshop focusing on urban capacity-building and outreach is planned for Casablanca, Morocco in 2014. MORE » [/ezcol_1third][ezcol_1third_end] SIIEM Project The Strengthening Information Infrastructure for Emergency Management (SIIEM) project is focused on developing and testing a new conceptual framework/business model for disaster management and risk reduction at the national level that would address these issues by involving all the concerned parties for the necessary information infrastructure to be established and sustained in countries. SIIEM will engage varied groups of stakeholders (those generally involved in information and emergency management as well as civil society organizations) to work together at defining and implementing the project’s national framework in Morocco and the Philippines.
